sortir is the French verb for “to go out”. It is an -ir verb with an irregular stem. Its compound tenses, such as the passé composé, take the auxiliary être, and its participe passé is sorti.
In the présent: je sors, tu sors, il/elle sort, nous sortons, vous sortez, ils/elles sortent.
With être, the participe passé agrees with the subject: add -e for a feminine subject, -s in the plural.
The stem drops its last consonant in the present singular: je sors, but nous sortons.
